Relive the trauma of the last five years through the cartoons of Herblock Award winner and Pulitzer nominee Tom Tomorrow in Our Long National Nightmare. This 288-page, full-color softcover book collects the comic This Modern World from April 1, 2020, to October 13, 2025, published December 2025. It measures 8½ inches square (22 cm) and weighs nearly 3 lbs (1.4 kg). Orders placed now ship in early January 2026.
This Modern World started in 1988 as a weekly cartoon of political and social satire published mostly in alternative weekly newspapers and has now outlived many of those papers. It has also appeared regularly online since the mid-’90s. The world, the media landscape, and the publishing industry have all changed quite a bit since Tom started out, and he’s had to constantly adapt. But he continues to spin the straw of terrible political news into the gold of hopefully amusing cartoons—and then, every few years, to collect those cartoons into a new book compilation.
Our Long National Nightmare was funded through a Kickstarter campaign, and only a small number of print copies remain, after which it will be available only as an ebook edition. Get your copy now!
Ships to the United States and Canada. (The weight makes it cost prohibitive outside of those countries.)

25 Years of Tomorrow offers the full contents of the 2015 two-volume retrospective of Tom Tomorrow’s career. An ebook delivered as two files (one for each volume), 25 Years of Tomorrow includes every cartoon Tom created for the first 25 years of his career, from 1990 to mid-2015: the weekly strip, work he did for magazines, one-offs, rarities, illustrations, and so on.
It includes some early, non-TMW work, including experiments with collage, single panel gag cartoons, and even an attempt at a syndicated daily comic strip from the 1980s. Tom included some of the interviews he did over the years, and added context through extensive annotation to many of the cartoons. The book includes several pages on the Pearl Jam collaboration, including photos and art.
Because of the large size of these two files, your download will be a single-page PDF with links to download the two volumes. Sorry for the inconvenience!
(Please note: this is an ebook edition in PDF form only; the print editions sold out long ago, and none are left for purchase.)
